March 18th Anti-War Demo- big success, thanks
Posted by Matt |Thanks to everyone who came out to Lambertville/New Hope for the anti-war demonstration this past Sunday. It was like deja vous from two years previous, although the politics are getting better, and the people are getting angrier (which is good).
Although Shaun had to miss it, I had a great time performing. I wrote two new verses to Together because I knew I didn’t have Shaun to fill in his great solo- so out of his absence, I got these new words* out of my head:
TOGETHER
Passin by the army station,
It’s never the rich folks who own things who fight.
Poor people workin as fodder for profit,
To work all your life and to die are your rights.
But holding to heart the notion of goodness,
This system is cancer and time to fight back.
Cause good comes with struggle and struggle’s upon us,
And every day that we sit back they attack.
* Those of both aisles are rivals to labor
We turn the dials but they hold the reigns
Billions of workers who run after carrots
They tell us there’s always a scapegoat to blame
* The immigrant, the darker, the women, the Arabs,
Divide us to conquer to keep us in chains..
Money more money, the motto, the slogan,
But soon we will realize the world we can gain..
Together, yeah, together we’re power
Money and guns are their highest of laws
But guns are only strong as the gunner will fire
And money does freeze when the businesses pause!
Together and how I will learn with my sisters and brothers,
All of us to lead and as threads we will sew
Clothes and houses and food on the table,
Together sewn we will keep out the cold.
–One day we’ll end this damn war. -Matt
